Chronology of cameras Mentor
The Mentor III is a strut folding camera made by Goltz & Breutmann and corresponds to a simpler (and cheaper) version of the Mentor II. It has a simpler front standard, cheaper lenses and no remote release socket. Many of the distributors that rebranded the Mentor klapp used this version as the lower end of their camera ranges. This camera can be seen in different catalogues such as that of Rüdenberg from 1908.
This example has no name on it, so it could have been distributed by different brands or by Goltz & Breutmann. The metal parts are unpainted, the viewfinder is a non-optical double wire frame, the wood is light, and the body is covered with leatherette.
The lens is an Extra-Rapid Aplanat with maximum aperture of 8. The shutter is the regular Mentor focal plane delivering speeds up to 1/1300 plus Z (T).
